THOMAS SHAFER ARCHITECTS
We were tasked with developing a scheme for an enclosed pool-house to compliment 2 residences the client owned on the lake-side. The goal was to develop an airy, summer pavilion in a garden to provide shade for the pool and deck while allowing the summer breeze and air to filter into the space, while creating the possibility of enclosing the pool in the winter to extend the swimming season year round. The existing property had well established, beautiful trees and a quaint, traditional brick home that we chose to respect by detaching the pool-house and locating in the corner of the lot away from the home. This gave the home room to breathe and established privacy for the pool structure from the neighboring properties, while creating an enjoyable, shared garden space between the residence and pool-house.
